It's Spring!
As new things will begin to grow from the ground
around us, spring is a time to remember your true potential. To take
notice of the beauty in the world around you. To acknowledge that
your true potential may not be being reached. Spring is not a time
for excuses. It is a time to begin a new, start fresh, and do all
that you can to Live Your Best Life.

Promixin
Inhaler
Profile Therapeutics in association with a pan-european CF company is
planning to launch Promixin, an inhaled antibiotic. They dub this as
the "intelligent inhaler" as it responds to a patient's
individual breathing patterns to deliver a specific dose of
medication. This drug has been approved in 8 European countries, and
they are expecting a commercial launch in the first half of 2005.

Targeting the Genes
Targeted Genetics published positive results from a Phase II trial of
its lead gene delivery-based cystic fibrosis product. The trial
resulted in statistically significant improvements in lung function, as
well as no patient safety concerns.

to Breath In
Peninsula Pharmaceuticals has
announced a phase I clinical trial of inhaled doripenem, a broad-spectrum
antibiotic which many CF patients have taken orally to treat p aeruginosa
and burkholderia cepacia. The company already has positive results from
a pre-clinical in vitro study of dorpipenem in CF patients with common
infection.

Fats are Fabulous
Harvard Researchers published in the New England Journal of Medicine
results of their study that demonstrates the dramatically altered levels
of fatty acids in the blood of patients with cystic fibrosis. They
believe that in 8-10 years, CF patients may be able to take doses of the
good fatty acids, that are found in salmon, walnuts and flax seed, to help
cure their CF by slowing lung damage.
Knowing this, I think it is time for a Salmon Recipe you can't resist.
Salmon filet (any amount)
cover with:
lemon juice, lime juice, kosher salt, parsley flakes and parmesan
cheese (right from the shaker)!
Bake in the oven at 350 until middle of fish is cooked through (25
min/pound of fish), then broil for 5 minutes to brown the top.
You will love this omega-3 packed dinner!
